“A solution in wood specially designed for use in highly humid indoor environments or for applications requiring high resistance”

CompacMel Plus – Something you may not have heard of, but this greener alternative to compact laminate by manufacturing giants FINSA has entered the UK and taken the market by storm with its popularity. Here is another project it has once again taken centre stage in…

As shown in the pictures, CompacMel Plus has been used to construct the OFFSET bookcase designed by Alexandra Izeboud. With all the criteria that it needed to tick, its multi-favourable properties; environmentally friendly, stable, versatile, moisture resistant, thin and easily installable and dismountable, (and breathe!!!) made it a more than promising candidate.

CompacMel Plus Sheet.

The architecture of the bookcase needed to be slim as well as strong. It needed to achieve the desired goal of contrasting colour and material using a play of lines, planes and light upon the client’s request. CompacMel Plus is perfect for this. The advantages in terms of machining behaviour are quite significant. It can be worked in the same way as other wood-based panelling, but with reduced tool wear and quicker processes.  It is the ideal solution for vertical surfaces.

The reason for this geometrical design was to create a contemporary focal point in their interior, not to mention hold their books!!! Its consistency with wood-based fibreboards meant cutting couldn’t be any simpler and the melamine top layer stayed intact throughout the assembly.

CompacMel Plus is perfect for locker rooms, a great alternative to Compact Grade Laminate (cheaper too!)

This hugely popular material with its antibacterial certified surface is available in 18 vivid colours and is used not only on bookcases but for furniture, healthcare and education applications, in a variety of ways. It’s the perfect choice for shelving, lockers, tables, panelling and soooooooo much more!

18 Vibrant swatches to choose from.

Its black core means no more edging. Not to mention its green initiative. Did you know it saves up to 80% of greenhouse emissions? What more could you want from a material?!
