Pop-In to your Pop-Up blog! We'll be delving into some stunning spaces that have been taken over by big brands.
Temporary event style shops are 'popping' up all over the place. Not only do they help with sales, but can also be used as awesome PR stunts. Often situated in areas with high footfall, they are a great way to increase sales, giving opportunities for consumers to explore new brands and products. Using promotions and competitions can also provide the perfect contact point to gather consumer information to better understand target audiences.
Pop-up shops come in all shapes and sizes in a variety of locations. Brands can rent vacant spaces in shopping centres for a short period, or even create their own shop on the mall. Alternatively, they can take to the streets with vans, trailers, tents and other structures to host their activities.

A massive benefit to this style of retail is that the designs tend to be fairly mobile, allowing the shops to jump from one location to another. Pop-up retail is becoming more and more common, challenging the old fashioned brick-and-mortar shops with their lengthy leases and are a great way to test new environments or destinations before commiting to long term contracts in one spot.
We've been at it too... Anyone remember our infamous airstream!
Way back in 2021, we managed to do our own mobile Pop-Up across England, touring across the nation to bring EGGER's brand new collection to your front door.
Colour is EVERYTHING when it comes to a pop up shop. Whether you opt for a wild design popping with colour, or a more subtle look which entices customers into your space, it is important that there is coordination.
Let's take a look at 12 different designs and why their colour choices are so on point...
1.BACK TO BASICS
Bold colours aren't everyones cup of tea but YOU CAN have a cup of tea in a bold colour at this Pantone pop-up cafe.
Pantone are famous for their colours, so you would expect nothing less than a bright, eye-catching design. The attention to detail, even down to the serviettes, deserves a round of applause.
The message delivered was simple, "we are all about colour". You wouldn't be far wrong calling this primary colour design garish, but it works and we love it!!
2. PAINT THE TOWN RED
The interactive beauty space that Chanel set up was filled with limited-edition beauty products and featured a lip lounge, a fragrance bar and a holiday shop. There was the chance to book consultations with Chanel celeb makeup artists and also get red manicures.
Decked in Chanel red, the space was hugely captivating. The black used in this design looked super smooth and a perfect backdrop for the red. A matt finish using the PerfectSense range from EGGER would be ideal for this, especially with the anti-fingerprint technology. Red, black & white together is very dramatic, only certain situations call for such a clash and this is definitely one of them.
3. THE NATURAL LOOK

Corona is another well known brand that has ventured into the wonderful world of PR pop-up. This shop was set up to match Corona's brand being associated with relaxation and the outdoors. Who wouldn't want to be supping a cold lager surrounded in green foliage and natural wood, dreaming of the Summer.
Barcelona's Corona pop-up was a contrast from the intensity of city life, giving drinkers an opportunity to zone out and enjoy the natural space which has been denied from us over lockdown.
Designers and architects will have seen green grow in popularity recently and manufacturers have been producing some desired new decors to meet the demand.
4. PASTELS PLAY THEIR PART
Now that we have some foundations to our blog, let's move on to some other foundations - the make-up kind. The brand, Glossier, teamed up with Rhea's Cafe to produce a pop-up experience like no other, where you could get a bit of contouring whilst munching on your fried chicken.
Using a pink pastel palette for the interior, Glossier took over this popular cafe in San Fransisco to showcase their range of products. The colours used have a softer look than their bright, more saturated counterparts, translating into a more soothing experience and a light and really instagrammable scene.
If you cannot get the right colour for your furniture items with your MFC choices, bespoke bonded boards with a chosen laminate can be the perfect solution.
5. WOODEN IT BE NICE
The Dollar Shave Club is well known for its simple offer. When they launched in the UK, they kept that simple touch with minimal items in the space.
A combination of dark & distressed woodgrains adorn the pop-up on the floor & walls. This vintage look allows anything metal to really stand out, which is perfect if you are highlighting your blades.
Not only that, they had comedy nights as well! You wouldn't complain too much about getting a free shave, grabbing a drink and playing on their foosball table with jukebox would you!? Great effort Dollar Shave Club.
6. CONCRETE EVIDENCE

Concrete has been very popular over the past few years with a big demand for industrial looking kitchens and shop fit-outs. The dark industrial decors that are presented in this pop-up from Alexander Wang in Seoul are heavy, but the choice of furniture is inspired by the modern, stripped back industrial style.
A warehouse look using materials like concrete, bronze and steel can be expensive and hard to work with. However, with laminate textures and decor papers looking indistinguishable from the real thing, there is now a more affordable way to bring together this industrial look.
The combination of grey and black has been a staple for many high end shops in recent years. There is also the option to use matt and gloss finishes to enhance the contrasting colours. Ferro Bronze has been a massively popular decor over the last couple of years, especially in the hospitality pop-ups.
7. Hush a bye baby

Who doesn't love a good nights sleep?! Plenty of pastel colours on show here from the super-eco cosmetic brand LUSH! Mixing blue, green and purple tones really work together to create a sense of calm.
LUSH provided exclusive offers and a tunnel where visitors were invited to take a moment to immerse themselves in a space to learn practises to help them feel more calm and grounded. What a fantastic experiential project and pop-up, we loved it!
8. ZESTY!
(Source)
Not many people would see themselves plastering bright orange on every wall and surface, but Louis Vuitton did, and it looks delightfully zesty and truly jaw-dropping!
The theme was 'perspective' and the setting featured paneling, displays and cabinets, all dipped in neon orange. Definintely an eye-catcher.
9. MARBELOUS!

Dark and moody interior design is often the choice for luxurious brands, although it usually comes with a pretty hefty price tag. Marble is a wonderful product and on scale, creates a jaw-dropping impact. The Yatzer installation was a pop-up that literally couldn't keep itself contained and suddenly popped up in our lives using dark marble and mustard highights.
Laminate has once again come to the rescue, giving us all an affordable option to achieve this incredible look on more of a budget. Whether you want the dark or white marble, make sure it has plenty of veins running through it for maximum impact.
10. SEGMENTED PERFECTION

As art galleries go, this one certainly caught our eye. With bold colours and quotes, this pop-up gallery showed the skills of interior designers and their creations. Simple colour blocking gives the space an episodic look, allowing guests to absorb each display individually in its entirety.
Clever tools, such as EGGER's visualiser, can help plan spaces and look at colour combination.
If you are interested in seeing more colours that you can use in your designs, all decors featured can be found on the EGGER laminates page on our website. Check out our inspiration page for more ideas...
